Is Ashridge House open to the public?

Yes, parts of Ashridge House are open, however the main house is usually closed to the public and is used for weddings, conferences, and private events. You are able to visit the interior of Ashridge House during select events. Check out upcoming events here

Opening Hours

The Bakehouse café: 8:30am-5pm daily

Hanako Flowers and gift shop: 9am-3pm Monday to Friday and 10am-4pm Saturday & Sunday

Gardens: 9am-last entry 4pm daily

Acres restaurant: 6pm-9pm Weds to Sat, 12pm-4pm on Sunday

The Vault bar: 4pm-Midnight Monday to Friday, and Midday-Midnight Saturday & Sunday

Can I stay at Ashridge House?

Yes, we would love to host you for an overnight stay! Ashridge House has 190 bedrooms on our grounds, though none are located within the main house. Please check booking.com for more information and availability.

Is Ashridge House part of National Trust?

Whilst Ashridge Estate does indeed belong to the National Trust, it doesn’t include Ashridge House itself which is privately owned. National Trust Membership does not cover Ashridge House.

What is Ashridge House used for?

Ashridge House hosts conferences, weddings, private events, executive education programs, and live events. We also have a cafe, restaurant, bar, and flower shop on site for daily visitors, as well as 190 acres of beautiful landscaped historic gardens to explore.

Can I go inside Ashridge House?

Ashridge House is not open to the public, but you are able to view the interior of Ashridge House during select events, including House Tours. Check out upcoming events here

Is there parking at Ashridge House?

We have ample on site parking available near the front of the house. Should you require any special assistance with parking please contact us.

What has been filmed at Ashridge House?

Most recently, Ashridge House was used as a location for The Crown (2022). The site has been used in a number of productions, including seasons of Pennyworth (2022), The Dirty Dozen (1967), a Skepta (2021) music video. The ‘Whomping Willow’ seen in the Harry Potter movies was also located nearby. Sadly it fell down in June 2014 under the strain of its own weight and old age.

Are dogs allowed at Ashridge House?

Dogs are allowed in the courtyard, in specific rooms of the Bakehouse café, and in the gardens on a lead. Due to the upscale atmosphere of The Vault cocktail bar, and Acres restaurant, we do not allow dogs or muddy boots inside those spaces. For weddings, we know that your pup is family, so they can of course join your wedding ceremony at Ashridge with a chaperone.

Do we need to use your recommended supplier list?

For both weddings and conferences we have a highly selective list of recommended suppliers. They understand and respect the and also ultimately hold the same values and standards that we set for Ashridge House. While you are not required to use our suppliers, we do request that your suppliers meet certain insurance requirements so please speak with your coordinator when planning.

Why can't I book the date I want on Open Table for Acres

If you are unable to book a date to dine with us then we are unfortunately full for the night, and will also be unable to take walk-ins. Please book another available date at your earliest convenience, or contact us if you would like to book a private event at acres@ashridge.hult.edu
