Sales & Events Executive, 2 years and 9 months at Ashridge House

What drew you to Ashridge House?

Ashridge House was a mystery to me. I grew up in the area and knew about the history and business school but I had no idea of the amazing events that were happening behind its walls. As soon as I saw the role of an events coordinator, I applied and actually chased my (now) Director over the phone three times!

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

The buzz of an event going off without a hitch, I really think it changes the atmosphere when your guests are excited and your team is raring to go and give people a proper ‘Ashridge House’ welcome.

What were you doing before working at Ashridge House?

My previous role was with a tailor-made travel company as a Canada specialist. I missed coordination too much and came straight back after one year!

What is your goal for Ashridge House?

MORE PUBLIC EVENTS! We have so much to offer that hasn’t been seen before! As we were first and foremost a business school our grounds and rooms have been kept a secret for so long, I would love to coordinate a live music garden party in our South Terrace Gardens with our gorgeous house as the backdrop

Ashridge House Events Marketing Manager, 4 years and 5 months at Ashridge House

What drew you to Ashridge House?

I am a local girl; I have always lived in Hertfordshire (Hertfordshire is the most beautiful county!) and I have walked through the Ashridge estate many times as a child. Ashridge House is like a beautiful fairy-tale castle hidden in an enchanted forest; it is impossible not to be drawn in!

What were you doing before working at Ashridge House?

I worked for a corporate events agency, project managing events, both in the UK and Internationally which was brilliant fun.

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

The beautiful gardens are the jewel of the estate. Although the house is magnificent, the gardens and grounds are magical and look incredible as the seasons change. I love Ashridge House at Christmas and when it snows Ashridge is like a mini Narnia. I love my team too; everyone has a ‘Nothing Is Impossible’ attitude and will go above and beyond to give our clients the most amazing experience at Ashridge.

What is your goal for Ashridge House?

My goal is for Ashridge House to become more accessible, to become the go to destination for social events. We are building a fabulous calendar of events and I would like to build on this, so our event calendar is bigger, better and more fabulous every year!

What drew you to Ashridge House?

When I joined Ashridge House, there was an exciting opportunity to develop the Ashridge House wedding experience, this opportunity continues to expand and it’s really exciting to be part of an ongoing project. Also, the chance of working at a Grade I listed building surrounded by beautiful greenery – may have had something to do with my decision to join the team!

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

I am maybe one of the first people you speak with over the phone, meet in person at a viewing or at wedding fair or I maybe co-ordinating your fabulous Ashridge House event, either way most likely you will probably speak with me at one stage or another. I mainly spend my day in the sales department, however I’m always here as an events executive to ensure you have the best possible experience at Ashridge House.

What were you doing before working at Ashridge House?

My background is in business development; however, I have a real passion for Graphic Design so I’m often getting involved with some elements of the marketing here at Ashridge House.

Ashridge House Business Development Manager, (1 year at Ashridge House)

What drew you to Ashridge House?

It’s an incredible venue. I had walked by the house quite a few times as I live locally but did not realise it accommodated any private events such as weddings. When I saw the position advertised, I knew I had to apply!

What were you doing before working at Ashridge House?

Hospitality and Events! I had a start into bar work whilst at university and loved the social aspect of working in the industry. It led me to work at various different venues in London and side step into events.

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

Love the busy nature of the job and the fact no two days are the same.

Luke Fiffee

Sales and Events Executive, one month at Ashridge House

What drew you to Ashridge House?

The history and beauty of the house.

What were you doing before?

I worked in the exhibition industry, running and managing shows, prior to joining Ashridge.

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

The people are great!

Helen Kennedy

Sales & Events Executive, 8 years at Ashridge House

What drew you to Ashridge House?

Being a local girl, I had always dreamed of getting married at the ‘Castle on the Hill’. My husband and I tied the knot at Ashridge House back in December 2012. I loved the venue and staff so much I applied for a job in the events team the following April.  I’ve been fortunate to work here ever since, I wouldn’t change it!

What were you doing before working at Ashridge House?

My previous role was in Customer Engagement, working within the food & grocery sector. A small part of my job involved helping the events team run the large corporate trade briefings. This is where my passion for event management grew!

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

I always described Ashridge House as a ‘Hidden Gem’ to our client’s. It truly is stunning and needs to be seen in person to appreciate the beauty! Aside from the beauty we are also blessed to work with amazing people! Honestly the team become an extension of your family!

What is your goal for Ashridge House?

To continue to ‘wow’ and provide the ‘Ashridge Service’ to our clients.

Jo O’Brien

Sales & Events Executive, 12 years at Ashridge House

What drew you to Ashridge House?

To be honest, I have never been to this side of Hertfordshire before I started working at Ashridge House. I still remember the breath-taking view of the house emerging from around the corner on my way to my 1st interview. I knew instantly I wanted to work here! The beauty of the spectacular grade I listed mansion and its private gardens still amazes me after all those years.
What were you doing before working at Ashridge House?
I worked for a tour operator and part of my role was arranging weddings in the Caribbean.

What do you like in particular when working at Ashridge House?

I really enjoy working with amazing people across the board and love the busy nature of the job. And you can be sure on any given day you will always speak to someone who will make you laugh!

What is your goal for Ashridge House?

I wish for Ashridge House to become a well-known venue, for both corporate and private clients, as currently it is a hidden gem.
