With 700 years of fascinating history, there’s a palpable sense of heritage at the heart of Ashridge House. Originally a monastery, it became a royal residence for both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. It has been a private house for long periods, as well as a military hospital during both World Wars. It has also been a ladies’ finishing school and is now, of course, a world-class venue steeped in wonderful history.Our History
With 190 en suite bedrooms at your disposal, Ashridge House offers superb flexibility. Each one is comfortably furnished and well-appointed with all the facilities you’ll need for a comfortable stay. Amongst those are 11 Brownlow Lodges, our spacious executive suites offering luxury en suite bathrooms, king-size beds, contemporary styling and fabulous views over the grounds.

Using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, our talented chefs create a delicious choice of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
